Aughinish parts company with Limerick Show

ONE of the longest serving and most successful sponsorships in Irish sport horse breeding came to an end at Limerick’s two day show over the weekend.

Aughinish Alumina invested over €500,000 over the past twenty years as title sponsors of the Limerick Lady and Matron Championships, a progressive Irish-bred sport horse development programme.

The aim was to further the Hunter Improvement Society’s work by encouraging farmers to keep the right type of half-bred two-year-old fillies on their farms and in the country as potential brood mares, in the hope that they would produce good three-day event horses, hunters and show jumpers when put to a Thoroughbred stallion.
