Hidden Genius too smart for rivals

FRANCES CROWLEY’S Hidden Genius, taken from some 5-4 to evens and the medium of one bet of €12,500 to €10,000 with leading layer David Hyland, was given a confident drive by Shay Barry to win the Saltan Properties Maiden Hurdle at a bitterly cold Tramore yesterday.

The ground was very testing and Barry, wisely, was in no hurry to make his move.

Hidden Genius was always tracking the leaders and had this in safe keeping once allowed lead over the second last. Crowley was represented by her father, Joe, who said: “Where he goes next depends on Noel O’Brien (handicapper), he wouldn’t want to be too hard on him!”
