Spirit Of Age gets Marnane off the mark

FRAN BERRY drew level with Michael Kinane at the top of the jockeys’ championship when taking his total for the campaign to 28 aboard Spirit Of Age in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Handicap at Tralee last night.

Spirit Of Age, bought for €14,000 from the Moyglare Stud, gave Bansha, Co Tipperary trainer, David Marnane, his first winner.

Marnane was one of the top amateur riders in the country some years ago and only recently came home after a nine-year stint in Dubai. During his riding days he was mostly associated with Dermot Weld.
