Note Naples in Bumper

NAPLES, who has already lost a race in somewhat bizarre circumstances, can enjoy a 'first' success in the Bumper at Bellewstown tonight.

Note Naples in Bumper

Noel Meade's gelding scored by four lengths at Downpatrick in May, but was later disqualified when it was discovered that rider, Nina Carberry, had claimed 5lbs when only entitled to 3lbs.

The six-year-old then contested a winners' race at Down Royal ten days ago and produced the performance of his young life.

Naples was beaten a length and a half into second by Christy Roche's highly-rated Charyan. He was flattered by his proximity to that mare, but it was a pretty smart effort, considering the third was a further 12 lengths away.

The mildly frustrating Shinko Dancer is afforded a good opportunity in the opening Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Median Auction Maiden.

She performed solidly at Tipperary last week, finishing three lengths runner-up behind the useful Always A Star, and a repeat of that would be good enough!

Desert Island and Oriental Rock look the two to concentrate on in the Seamus Murphy Yellow Sam 30th Anniversary Hurdle.

Preference is for Oriental Rock, who blundered at the last when beaten a length and a half by King Of Foxrock at Navan.

Ursumman, rated 92 over flights, is the choice in the three mile Bluegrass Horse Feed Handicap Hurdle.

A winner at this meeting a year ago, Ursumman was running off 110 when beaten two lengths by Warrens Castle over fences at Down Royal.
