Breen gains on Swain after Grand Prix win
Breen had two in the jump-off after seven made it past Alan Wade’s first-round track. He seemed to have a tough task, after Francis Connors set a seemingly unbeatable time of 36.80 seconds with Noel C Duggan’s Millstreet Miss. However, Breen, on World Cruise, managed to cut the target time by 0.15 of a second.
He now stands on 105 points in the league, just 12 adrift of Swail.
On Saturday, Marie Burke rode a double clear with Chippison to finish fifth in the British Grand Prix at Hickstead. Earlier, Corkman Billy Twomey, aboard Whinnie Jackson, and Olympic squad colleague Marion Hughes (Heritage O’Jessie) scored a one-two in a speed class.
In San Patrignano, Italy, Trevor Coyle placed second in a speed class with M’Adermite and third in a 1.45m contest with the fastest four faults on Overtime.
