CIAN O'CONNOR offered to withdraw his name for selection for the last two Samsung Super League Nations Cup competitions this year in a bid to restore some harmony to Irish showjumping.

The Equestrian Federation of Ireland (EFI) yesterday confirmed that Mr O'Connor had made the offer, but said it was turned down.

The 25-year-old is at the centre of a controversy over the selection of the team chosen to ride in the Nations Cup last Friday at Dublin Horse Show.
