Russell seeking French success on The Quads

HAVING experienced a great start to his professional career in Britian, 23-year-old Irishman Davy Russell will be endeavouring to record his second success on French soil on Sunday when he climbs aboard The Quads for Ferdy Murphy in a three mile two and a half furlong steeplechase at Pau.

Russell seeking French success on The Quads

Youghal-born Russell is no stranger to success on French soil as he partnered Montifau to victory for Ferdy Murphy's daughter Caroline and her fiancee Guy Petit in an amateur riders chase at Clairefontaine in Normandy over the August bank holiday weekend.

The Quads meanwhile won the Sporting Index Shield Account (Cross-Country) Handicap Chase at Cheltenham with Russell on December 13 before disappointing when pulling-up at the 18th fence behind Mini Sensation in the Welsh Grand National a fortnight later.
