Longer trip should suit Keaveney
I propose siding with two of his charges, Keaveney and Roundstone Lady. Keaveney gets the nap in the Tom McCormack Memorial Cup Maiden Hurdle.
The six-year-old was well beaten on his debut over flights at Bellewstown, finishing 16 lengths fourth behind Perugino’s Shadow. Stepping up another five furlongs in trip now may hold the key and Keaveney showed his liking for this track previously when taking a bumper.
Roundstone Lady is the choice in the Tommy Scanlon Bar and Restaurant Handicap Hurdle.
The five-year-old has plenty of moderate runs on the CV, but her latest effort indicated this may well be within her capabilities.
At Roscommon eleven days ago, she was beaten three and a half lengths into second spot by Ballygill Heights. A further four and a half lengths away in third was Irish Blade, who boosted the form when scoring at Killarney this week.
