Vinnie Roe heads Leger field

FOUR-TIME Irish Field St Leger winner Vinnie Roe heads 17 horses confirmed at the five-day stage for the Curragh Classic on Saturday.

The seven-year-old is reported to still be on course for the race despite bruising the top of his quarter a few days ago and he could bid for a remarkable fifth consecutive success.

There are seven possible British raiders - the Godolphin pair Cherry Mix and Songlark, Alan Swinbank’s globe-trotting Collier Hill, Walter Swinburn’s Cutting Crew, the Mark Tompkins-trained Franklins Gardens, Sir Michael Stoute’s Gamut, runner-up two years ago, and The Whistling Teal from Geoff Wragg’s stable.
