O’Connell appointed to IGB

FRANK O'CONNELL, the chairman of the Irish Greyhound Owners and Breeders Federation, is set to be appointed a member of the Irish Greyhound Board.

Though no official word was forthcoming from the Department of Arts, Tourism and Sport yesterday, I understand that O'Connell has received the nod to take over from Helen Nugent who has tendered her resignation.

O'Connell had been favoured to join the board in the last reshuffle early this year but didn't make it then. However, he is now set to join Cathal Curley, Padraig Feeney, Danny Reilly, John Hegarty and Tony McKenna on the Board which is chaired by Paschal Taggart.
