Kennys take Owner of Year award

YOUGHAL rounded off 2004 with an inaugural award ceremony at the track recently.

Presentations of woodcarvings and cut glass were made to several individuals in recognition of services to the track throughout the year.

Long-time greyhound stalwart Ned Flynn was master of ceremonies as awards were presented by members of the Track Supporters Group in the following categories:

Owner of the Year: John & Mary Kenny, Balyduff, owners of prolific winner, Wagga Lord.

Trainer of the Year/most wins: Bernie Connolly, Old Parish Co. Waterford.

Services to the Track: Don Mossop, hare driver & maintenance.

Supporter of the Year: Shared by Michael Hussey and Johnny Morrissey, Youghal

Breeder of the Year: Tim Kenneally and Ted Fitzgerald, for Tim's Crow, 2004 UK Greyhound of the Year.

Outstanding Performance of 2004: Stephen Motherway, for Cork Laurels winner Boherduff Light.

Chairman of the Owner's Association, Bertie Lupton, thanked all who had contributed and anticipated that “in a few years we will have facilities on a par with most of the other tracks in the country.”
