Waters seeks Chariot lift

VIRGINIA WATERS will attempt to pick up the winning thread by scoring for the first time since winning the 1000 Guineas in the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket today.

Waters seeks Chariot lift

Aidan O’Brien’s charge showed more of her old sparkle last time out when finishing third to Attraction in the Matron Stakes and big-race pilot Kieren Fallon is hopeful of a sound performance.

“I know Aidan is confident and he thinks she is better than she was at Leopardstown,” said Fallon.

“I liked her at Leopardstown as she came back to herself again after having an off mid-season. She just wasn’t herself for a couple of runs but he has her back to her best now.

“The Sun Chariot is a serious race and there are good older fillies around. Michael Stoute has three in there - Favourable Terms, a Group One winner in Chic and a very good horse in Peeress.

“It is going to be very hard to beat the older rivals but she will be right there.”
