Skyhawk ready to swoop

MICHAEL GRASSICK’S horses have found a nice bit of form of late and his Skyhawk gets the nap to take the John Perry Maiden at Sligo this evening.

The son of In The Wings is no great shakes, but does appear capable of winning a moderate event such as this.

He has been rested since June 10, when performing reasonably well in what looked a better class contest than this.

Skyhawak was beaten a little over five lengths into fourth place behind Aidan O’Brien’s Two Miles West, who has subsequently developed into a decent performer.

The form has been working nicely with Comfort Zone (second) and Turtulla (fifth) going on to score in the meantime.

Niall McCullagh partners Skyhawk and can team up with the Frances Crowley trained Miss Isabela to land the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Auction Maiden.

The daughter of Danetime made a good start when a close fifth to Descriptive at Naas last month.

Michael Kinane looks set to enjoy a rare success at Sligo aboard McQueenie in the Rosses Point Maiden.

The selection disappointed behind Straycat Strut at Tipperary in June - John Oxx’s horses were out of form at the time - but is better judged on her third to Clever Myth and Lone Plainsman at Cork previously.

Florida Belle, particularly if plenty use is made of her, is fancied to provide the solution to the Bumper.

Willie Mullins’ mare was noted doing all her best work at the finish when fourth to Shuil Le Bob on this track last time.
