SJAI to announce new CEO next week
This follows final presentations made by two candidates to the SJAI National Executive on Tuesday night.
SJAI chairman Charles Hanley said: “Both men made good presentations but we have to make a decision.
“A few members of the executive will meet next Wednesday to finalise contract terms and agree the job specification.”
Mr Hanley would not identify the two applicants.
Regarding the appointment of a new Chef d’Equipe to the Irish team he said the executive had agreed a salary/expenses package of “up to 50,000.”
The Equestrian Federation of Ireland is to contribute a similar amount.
Eddie Macken is favourite to man the post.
Also vying are Tommy Wade and Robert Splaine.
Meanwhile the International Equestrian Federation said no date had been set yet for Olympic champion Cian O’Connor’s oral hearing.
The IEF also confirmed that the head of its judicial department Mary Parker Hunter had resigned her post, the American born woman was employed by the federation for 11 years.
O’Connor’s oral hearing will take place before the judicial committee, a spokeswoman for the IEF said the resignation would have no bearing on the case.
