Mate team head Preview line-up
The Preview, which Cashmans are hosting in conjunction with Inch Point-To-Point, will be held at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork. Admission is €10 and proceeds will go to the Injured Jockeys Fund.
Despite ‘Matey’ having failed to sparkle on both starts so far this season, there was nothing but optimism emanating from the stable earlier this week with Terry Biddlecombe saying: “If it’s good ground, he wins. It’s going to be a tough race, a much better race than the three he has won before. But I think he can do it.”
Knight and Biddlecombe will be joined on the panel by top jockeys Ruby Walsh and Barry Geraghty, Mick Fitzgerald and Conor O'Dwyer, leading trainer Michael Hourigan and Paul Cashman, managing director of Cashmans Bookmakers. The MC will again be Des Scahill and there will be live phone link-ups with Jessica Harrington and Noel Meade.
The format will be the same as previous years with videos shown of the leading contenders for the championship races followed by a general discussion on individual races.
A lot of interest will centre on Ruby Walsh. He is scheduled to ride a string of fancied horses at the meeting and for the last two years has put punters ‘right’ at this Preview. Two years ago he advised the audience to steer clear of Keen Leader (backed from 11/4 to 9/4 on the day when unplaced in the SunAlliance Chase) while last year his advice was to get on St Pirren, backed from 6/1 to 4/1 on the day when winning the Grand Annual Chase.
Tickets for the night are available in all Cashmans shops and in the hotel on the night.
