Make it Major

ONCE-RACED Major Stampi rates a safe wager to take the Golf Membership Bumper at Gowran Park this afternoon.

Make it Major

Noel Meade's five-year-old created a favourable impression on his debut at Navan last month and is a horse with a bright future.

He was two lengths runner up behind useful stable companion, Celtic Sammy, then and the form looks particularly smart, considering Celtic Sammy finished second to Albert Mooney in a decent maiden hurdle at Navan on Saturday.

Meade's Marbeuf holds a leading chance in the Gowran Park Racing Club Novice Hurdle, having made an impressive start over flights on this track when beating Finger Onthe Pulse.

John Kiely's Capanella however is narrowly preferred.

This slick jumper won her maiden over two miles at Thurles and then appeared to be in front a trifle too soon back at Thurles, when going down by three parts of a length to Sir Frederick over two and a quarter miles.

Kiely can also supply the solution to the Clashwilliam Maiden Hurdle with Drummer First, who has been performing well in bumpers.

He was a creditable third to Celtic Sammy and Major Stampi at Navan last time and three miles and a set of jumps may be just what's required.

De Laurentiis, formerly trained by Aidan O'Brien but now in the care of Christy Roche, is the interesting one in the Go Racing In the South Three Year Old Hurdle.

The son of Sadlers Wells was last seen when winning a cracking twelve furlong contest at Listowel in September and hopefully the market will nod in his favour.
