Electrocutionist set for Royal Ascot assignment
Plans for the five-year-old were fluid after he defied his stall-one draw to defeat Brass Hat by a length and a half, but connections have now decided to have a crack at the 10 furlong Group One contest in June. The decision sets up a mouth-watering clash with Brian Meehan’s Dubai Duty Free winner David Junior, although Sheikh Mohammed’s operation have yet to name a target for UAE Derby winner Discreet Cat.
“Electrocutionist is being aimed for the Prince of Wales’ Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 21 and Discreet Cat’s plans will be confirmed in due course,” said a statement on www.godolphin.com.
“They have been tack-walking at their Al Quoz base in Dubai and in the course of the next month will be shipped to Europe and America respectively for their exciting summer campaigns.”
* Newbury have delayed plans for an all-weather track due to the on-going debate over the future funding of racing and the remaining uncertainty surrounding the availability of fixtures.
* The Newbury Racecourse Board have, however, reiterated that the provision of quality racing on an all-weather track remains an integral part of its future strategy.
