WITH the first Classics just over three weeks away, trainers in the Lambourn Valley are tearing their hair out following a wave of inclement weather which has disrupted a clear run to Newmarket on the back of one of the warmest winters in recent years.

Mick Channon is among those keeping every finger crossed that the sun will shine before the end of the month to give his three-year-olds a chance to bloom.

Channon was denied what he believed would be his first English Classic triumph two years ago when Queen's Logic was ruled out of the 1000 Guineas after impressively winning her trial.
