Handel can be punters’ messiah
The son of Sadler’s Wells is a horse with a bright future, who wasn’t seen to best advantage in the Irish Derby at the Curragh last time.
Along with stable companion, High Country, he was used as a pacemaker by Ballydoyle and his final placing, eighth of nine behind Alamshar, is almost certainly no reflection of his true ability.
Prior to that, over an inadequate ten furlongs, Handel ran a fine race to finish three lengths second to the ultra-smart Richard Hannon trained four-year-old, Nysaean, at the Curragh.
He also won a mile and a half maiden on this track in tremendous style and can land this on the way to bigger prizes.
Aidan O’Brien and Michael Kinane team up with Handel and the duo can initiate a double earlier in the evening with Powerscourt in the Seapoint Race.
Powerscourt, making his seasonal debut, finished sixth in the Irish Derby and is entitled to come on plenty for the outing.
Kinane could also be on the mark aboard Mr Houdini in the Stillorgan Premier Handicap.
Mr Houdini beat Avorado half a length at Leopardstown last month and that form has been well advertised in the meantime.
Five handicaps on tonight’s programme at Killarney make uncomfortable reading for punters and swerving most of the races is the best advice one can offer.

He loves fast ground and warmed up for this with a gutsy performance to score on the flat at Limerick.
