Never Give Up turns back clock

NEVER GIVE UP turned back the clock at Limerick on Saturday night when getting his 2005 Kerry Agri Business Irish St Leger challenge off to a winning start.

Never Give Up turns back clock

The reigning champion looked just like his old self as he led from start to finish to win Heat 7. Pat Buckley's charge ran on strongly to see off Sarsfields Rock in 30.08.

The Graham Calvert trained Border Noel posted the fastest time of the night in winning Heat 10. He had too much early speed for the favourite, He Said So, and beat that rival by a length and a half in a slick 29.75.

Leger favourite Enchanting Hero gave his supporters reason to sweat in the early stages of Heat 9 when forced to ride a few hefty bumps. The Reggie Roberts trained dog displayed real courage however in forcing his way to the front before the corner and he then strode away to record a 7 length victory over Rambler Sammy in 29.91.

Gerry Holian's Go My Way 30.02, Pat Buckley's Trey United 30.26 and Eileen Gleeson's Spiral Citrate 29.87 claimed the remaining heats of the session.
