FAVOURITES fell like nine pins on the opening day of the Cork Coursing Club’s fixture at Blarney yesterday.

In the featured Jack Ryan Memorial Cup long odds favourite Kierans Glory went out in the opening round to Farmers Phantom, when he went unsighted, while other fancy ones to fall included Micks Twist, Chetwyn Harbour and Abbeyglen Cosmo.

We are now down to he last eight and the destination of the prize looks very much in the balance but Farmers Phantom, who created two big surprises yesterday, may be the one to beat.
