Flyer may race in King George
However Tom Taaffe may be ready to launch a King George challenge after Kicking King’s defeat of Beef or Salmon at Punchestown yesterday.
Moscow Flyer produced a scintillating exhibition of jumping to beat Azertyuiop in the Tingle Creek over two miles at Sandown on Saturday and Ms Harrington is now considering a dramatic rise in trip for her stable star at Kempton on St. Stephen’s Day.
If Moscow Flyer does go to Kempton then Barry Geraghty may be faced with a selection dilemma.
On Moscow Flyer’s performance, he said: “There is still plenty life left in him. He is my flagship horse. There was so much hype about Azertyuiop that I felt I had something to prove. Whether he goes to Kempton I will leave to Jessica. He’s an exceptional horse and I see no problem with him staying three miles.”
For his part, Tom Taaffe said that the target for his horse was now Kempton.
“I’m not ruling out Leopardstown, but the plan is the King George. I will walk Kempton in the next ten days. Wherever he goes at Christmas, you won’t see him after that until Cheltenham.”
Michael Hourigan, was not too despondent with Beef or Salmon’s run. “It’s not as disappointing as it looks,” he said. “He missed a full fortnight and you can’t do that against fit horses like the winner. We will probably go for the Lexus (at Leopardstown on December 28).”
