Start off with Emotional Moment

EMOTIONAL MOMENT, in the Horse and Jockey Beginners ’Chase, can get punters away to a flier on a marathon eight-race programme at Thurles today.

Start off with Emotional Moment

Tom Taaffe’s six-year-old was a smashing hurdler, equally at home at any trip from two to three miles.

He made a satisfactory debut over fences at Punchestown last month, giving the impression there was far better to come.

Emotional Moment was distinctly light in the market and performed accordingly, tiring in the closing stages to finish just over 15 lengths fifth behind Satco Express.

The selection will strip a lot fitter on this occasion, will surely be more in demand in the ring, and gets the nap.

David Casey takes the ride and has prospects of a double aboard Strong Project for Charlie Swan in the Rock Of Cashel Hurdle.

A useful timber-topper at his best, who didn’t take to fences, Strong Project has clearly had his problems. Swan’s charge was returning from a break of over a year at Navan on November 9.

He certainly wasn’t disgraced in finishing eight lengths and four lengths third to Rosaker and Hardy Eustace and can show his appreciation of a major drop in class.

Caishill gets a decent allowance from his elders in the Glen ’Chase and may well take plenty pegging back!

Joe Crowley’s gelding has already won a chase on this track, over an inadequate two miles, and showed he continues to go the right way when four lengths runner-up, also over the minimum trip, to Anxious Moments at Punchestown.

The moderate Lord Ajus, fourth to Kildare at Naas, may be capable of squeezing through the Cahir Maiden Hurdle.

Rosenca, a promising third on his reappearance behind Jackie Cullen at Fairyhouse on Saturday, but who doesn’t find a great deal off the bridle, is the obvious worry.
