Sanders keeps up pressure

SEB SANDERS sent out a warning to Jamie Spencer that he will not have it all his own way in the race for the jockeys' championship with a short-priced double at Beverley yesterday.

Sanders was seen at his best when booting home Oblique to victory in the East Yorkshire Mail Handicap Stakes, and was just as effective aboard Circassian 30 minutes earlier in the totexacta Handicap Stakes.

The in-form jockey got the ball rolling when Sir Mark Prescott's Circassian put up a terrific display in the two-mile marathon in front of a heaving grandstand on Ladies' Day.

Prescott and Sanders made it a double for the day when Oblique showed plenty of mettle to get the better of long-time leader Real Cool Cat in the 10-furlong event.

Sanders had to switch the three-year-old wide turning for the home, but the favourite responded well and ran out a three-length winner from Real Cool Cat.
