Silvergino can deliver a winning performance
David Wachman’s four-year-old had only two behind when filling that position in the seven furlongs handicap won by Barella at the Curragh back in April.
That performance is largely irrelevant, however, in the context of this contest, and of far more significance is the selection’s last two efforts over flights.
At Leopardstown at Christmas he contested the Grade One Juvenile Hurdle and was bang there to the second last, before fading to finish tenth behind Top Strategy.
Prior to that, Silvergino set a strong gallop when beaten a length into second spot by the smart Corrib Boy at Clonmel.
If the market speaks in his favour, one can easily envisage him making short work of this opposition!
El Arenal has a leading chance in the Aon Toal Insurance Handicap Hurdle.
He looked far from beaten when falling at the final flight in the contest won by Singh Street at Tralee last month.
Mount Prospect, a neck second to Ursumman in a Bellewstown handicap last time, is the choice in the Tom McCormack Memorial Cup Maiden Hurdle.
