Sound Sense the sensible choice in tricky final
One of two Stephen Bourke trained finalists, Sound Sense can bounce back from a semi final reverse where he failed by a head to overhaul Mountleader Gara in 31.49.
Sound Sense previously impressed when carding a fastest of the stake 31.40 and, likely to enjoy a run on the outside, this classy sort can turn the tables on Mountleader Gara here. Mountleader Gara is the only unbeaten finalist, but will need to be on his toes at traprise, particularly with a railer, Slippery Bill, situated on his immediate right.
Bourke’s second representative, Count Gelignite, posted a 31.58 effort before finishing an unlucky second in the semis. He has plenty of scope for improvement, but may struggle to get into contention from a five draw.
The Cashmans Purse can go to Rock Island. John Kiely’s four-times winners wasn’t disgraced in finishing fourth behind Slippery Bill last week and is preferred to Chinook Wind, a good third behind Mountleader Gara in the semis, but done no favours by a switch to the outside.
Side Walk can initiate a double for the Bourke kennels in the Cashmans Plate 575. A runaway 31.36 heat winner, Side Walk is well drawn on the rails and looks a cut above tonight’s rivals.
