Twomey’s second best Irish placing

CORK’S Billy Twomey was Ireland’s standard bearer on day one of the Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horseshow yesterday, placing second in the opening international class and seventh in the follow-up feature.

Twomey’s second best Irish placing

In the Speed Stakes, he teamed up with Killy Jones in a determined effort for a morale-boosting win ahead of tomorrow’s Nations Cup.

However, his time of 64.75 seconds was not good enough to overtake the target set by Dutch man Mathijs Van Asten aboard Opalinda, who ran out the winner in 63.01 seconds.
