Kinane has grounds for concern over Somnus

MICK KINANE is hoping the drying ground on the Knavesmire will not play against leading Golden Jubilee Stakes fancy Somnus in today’s Group One showpiece at Royal Ascot at York.

Despite having winning form on fast ground, Tim Easterby’s charge has landed three top-grade races with give underfoot.

Following a rain-free 24 hours, officials at York changed the ground to good to firm, firm in places.
