Racing mourns Kenty Riordan

Riordan (43) was a son of John Riordan, breeder of Champion Hurdler and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, Dawn Run.

He started training in 1985 and among his winners were Lar Dawn, a half-brother to Dawn Run, It's Sharing, who won handicap hurdles at Cork and Tipperary in 2000, and Dowhatyoulike.

A familiar figure on the point-to-point circuit in the south, he trained Abbeytown, a successful pointer to finish fifth in the National Hunt Chase at last year's Cheltenham Festival. Riordan is survived by his wife, Jeanette, daughters Hazel and Jessica, and a son, Emmett.
