Moscow Flyer ‘ best by far’ for Geraghty

BARRY GERAGHTY hailed Moscow Flyer the best horse he has ridden after the reigning Queen Mother Champion Chaser confirmed his status as the best two-mile chaser in the business with a breathtaking victory over heir apparent Azertyuiop, exciting prospect Le Roi Miguel and three-time winner Flagship Uberalles in the £100,000 William Hill Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on Saturday.

Geraghty enthused: “To win it this year, after what happened last year (Geraghty was unseated) was great. He’s different class. He’s so much pace. He was running away at the fourth-last.

“He stopped for a bit, I gave him a couple of cracks and he’s picked up again at the last and went away really well.

“I was very confident going into the race and I never had any concerns. He’s just different class, by far the best horse I’ve ridden.”

The Jessica Harrington-trained chaser defeated Azertyioup by five lengths, with Flagship Uberalles seven lengths away third.

“He was wonderful,” said Harrington. “They didn’t really go quick enough. Barry said he was running away, and was very long at the third-last and very long at the last. He just jumped beautifully. I couldn’t have been more delighted.”

Bookmakers hardened Moscow Flyer’s position for the Queen Mother, with Cashmans quoting him at 7-4 and William Hill going shortest about him at 6-4.

“The plan was to give him a run at Leopardstown over Christmas and then give him one more run before Cheltenham,” said Harrington “But we’ll just see, as he was pretty fit for this and it’s whether we just let him down a bit.”
