Fat budgie soars to new heights

THE first sub 28.00 run by a dog in Ireland is now firmly on the horizon following Fat Budgie’s brilliant 28.08 effort in the final of the Rochestown Park Hotel Stakes at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

The venue, when it does happen, will almost certainly be Curraheen Park Harold's Cross would be the only other realistic possibility as the well laid and superbly maintained circuit is clearly conducive to fast times when conditions are right.

And they were right on Saturday night.
