Midoltian can initiate double for Carberry

HEART MIDOLTIAN impressed at Cork earlier in the month and he is napped to do the business again in the O’Mahony Packaging Hurdle at Tralee today.

Midoltian can initiate double for Carberry

At Cork the strapping five-year-old swept through to lead going to the second last and was eased down in the closing stages to beat Fey Macha a comfortable three lengths.

The form received a timely boost when Fey Macha went on to win at Kilbeggan subsequently.

Paul Carberry rides Heart Midoltian and he can complete a double aboard Dermot Kelly’s Lord Grey in the Spectra Photo Labs Handicap Chase.

On the face of it the selection faces a stiff task under 12-0. But he’s a classy front runner, capable of going a swinging gallop, and there was little wrong with the manner in which he beat Celio at Tipperary recently.

Madonna Fan, who beat Swordplay, successful next time at Tramore, in a canter at Kilbeggan might provide the solution to the Brandon Hotel Handicap Hurdle.

At the Curragh tomorrow Aidan O’Brien’s once-raced Reach For The Moon can land the Moyglare Stud Stakes. She created a big impression when taking her maiden in smooth style at Cork from Spring Clean, who has won in the meantime.

You would have to respect Danaskaya and Pearl Dance, and Szabo may emerge as a live outsider, but Reach For The Moon could be a star of the future and gets the vote.

Agnetha can win the Group Two Big Shuffle Flying Five for Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen.

She would certainly be an appropriate winner, being by Big Shuffle, and she showed great battling qualities, fron an unfavourable draw, to grab a Group Three at Goodwood last time.

The Weld-Smullen combination can also strike with Revue in the Dance Design Maiden. It is no surprise he’s dropped two furlongs in trip, having failed to stay a mile and a half when three parts of a length second to Sadinga at Galway.

At Tralee tomorrow Weld’s Naahil is the nap choice for the Ballybeggan Racegoers’ Club Maiden Hurdle. Beaten a neck by the well-backed Woods at Downpatrick on Monday, he can go one better as long as the surface remains on the fast side.

Barrow Drive and Ansar promise a fascinating tussle for the Brogue Inn Belvedere Trophy Novice Chase. Barrow Drive will ask questions of his rival from the start, but the classy Ansar is preferred.
