Manners the best policy
Graham Calvert’s runner finished with a flourish when making it five wins from nine starts in 29.02 last week. Best Manners is clearly going the right way and can again be in front where it matters.
The odds-on Rooney ruined his chance with a tardy start when third behind Best Manners last week.
John Kiely’s six-times winner has obvious scope for improvement but may be better suited by a longer trip.
The well drawn Seven Heads Mist, always prominent when dividing Best Manners and Rooney, can again play a leading role.
The card also includes heats of The Office 1 A2 Backgraders 575 Stakes and Lyons Rumble is one to note in heat two. This fellow ended last year on a high, recording back-to-back 31.77 (575) and 30.14 (550) wins at this venue.
This prolific scorer can strike again at the expense of the well drawn Beanos Tiger, a 29.25 winner at Youghal last month.
The John Linehan trained Hoppers Fortune, always in control when posting a 28.87 effort last time, looks the part in heat three while nine-times winner Creswick Vieri can gain compensation for an unlucky run here last time in the opening heat.
The bang-in-form Burgess, who recorded back-to-back 17.99 and 17.88 wins here last month, can shrug off a poor draw in the ninth race.
