Euro Leader survives major blunder to take Gold Medal

RUBY WALSH, who has spent a lot of the week on the ground, suffering several falls, left it all behind when guiding Euro Leader to success in the featured Denny Gold Medal Handicap Chase at Tralee yesterday.

Mind you it was far from plain sailing. Euro Leader could be mapped as the likely winner a fair way from home, but a minor error four out was a signal for worse to come.

At the third last, he breasted the fence and it was something of a miracle he didn’t hit the deck.
