Furlong hails SJAI decision as positive development for the sport

SHOW Jumping Association of Ireland (SJAI) chairperson Patricia Furlong yesterday described the association’s decision to relinquish control of all international teams to the Equestrian Federation of Ireland (EFI) as a positive development for the sport at grassroots level.

Ms Furlong said the upwards of €100,000 the SJAI had budgeted for the international participation of pony riders, juniors and young riders etc could now be redirected to the sport at national level.

The Wexford-based Corkwoman denied the SJAI move was a retaliatory and petulant reaction to the EFI decision to take sole control of the senior international team.
