VINNIE ROE has suffered a slight setback only nine days before defending his Irish Field St Leger crown at the Curragh.

Although Dermot Weld's charge has a remarkable fifth consecutive victory of the race in his sights, the seven-year-old's preparations have been blighted after developing haematoma.

However, the Curragh handler has played down the extent of the problem and is confident of Vinnie Roe making a full recovery ahead of the Group One contest on September 17.
