As reality becomes an increasingly flimsy concept, it's difficult to know what to believe any more. But retired footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic has apparently announced a fight with Tyson Fury, to be held in Dublin in August.
At least that's what the cryptic message posted on the Swedish great's social media accounts suggested.
"BREAKING NEWS! ITS ON AUGUST 1 DUBLIN Ireland," posted Ibrahimovic along with a series of photographs of himself beside Fury.
Ibrahimovic retired from professional football following the 2022/23 season. He has never competed professionally in boxing or MMA, but has often highlighted a background in taekwondo, and has been pictured holding a black belt in the discipline, with reports noting it was awarded at a young age.
Boxing has increasingly leaned into exhibition bouts in recent years, often pairing ageing legends, influencers, and athletes from other sports in fights that blur the line between sport and entertainment.

Fury returned to the ring last month following a 15-month retirement, with a dominant win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That win reignited speculation over a long-awaited clash with Anthony Joshua, with negotiations reported to be at an advanced stage and both sides expected to take “warm-up” bouts first.
