Ciara Neville, Emma Moore and James Gormley have secured places at next week’s World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland after World Athletics released its final list of qualifiers.

Athletics Ireland had named them among its provisional selection on Tuesday, with eight athletes confirmed and the above trio, along with long jumper Elizabeth Ndudi, awaiting the final list of qualifiers from World Athletics to see if they had secured their place.

Ndudi was among those to have secured Athletics Ireland’s B standard but not the World Athletics automatic standard (6.75m), jumping an Irish indoor record of 6.63m in January, but she will miss the event after not finishing inside her event quota.

Neville has been in the form of her life this indoor season and the Limerick sprinter will join Irish teammate Lauren Roy in the women’s 60m in Torun. Moore has also had a breakthrough season, lowering her 800m PB to 2:01.21, and she will contest the 800m alongside Irish teammate and national indoor record holder Maeve O’Neill.

Gormley returns to the World Indoors having raced over 3000m in Nanjing, China last year. The 27-year-old ran an indoor PB of 3:37.60 in Boston last month.

Ireland’s leading hope at the event is expected to be Kate O’Connor in the pentathlon, who won silver in Nanjing last year, while world heptathlon champion Anna Hall will go in as the favourite.

Mark English will have high hopes of reaching his first global championship final in the 800m, while Andrew Coscoran will be looking to improve on his sixth-place finish last year when he lines up for the 3000m alongside national indoor champion Nick Griggs.

Sarah Lavin will be aiming to make the World Indoor final for a third time in the 60m hurdles, while Bori Akinola has been in the form of his life this indoor season and he will take his place in the men’s 60m.

Irish Team, World Indoor Championships (March 20-22): Kate O’Connor (pentathlon); Mark English (800m); Maeve O’Neill (800m); Andrew Coscoran (3000m); Nick Griggs (3000m); Sarah Lavin (60m hurdles); Bori Akinola (60m); Lauren Roy (60m); Ciara Neville (60m); Emma Moore (800m); James Gormley (1500m)
