Conor Meany: Neptune slip deeper into relegation trouble

Neptune would have targeted St Vincent's and UCD Marian at home as their two must win games if they are to survive in the Super League this year. The first of those opportunities came and went on Saturday as they lost 121-114 to St Vincent's. Sometimes a bright start offensively can come back to haunt a team, and Neptune’s 27 points in the first quarter allowed them to settle into a mindset that they could win this game on the offensive end.Â
What resulted was a slip back into the bad habits that plagued the team in the early stages of the year as they conceded 121 points. Vincent's deserve credit as they got production from all over. Liam Kinsella scoring 28 on 12/14 shooting inside would not have been on many people’s bingo card heading into the game, but he continuously punished Neptune’s lack of interior defence.Â
