The teams at the bottom of the table are undoubtedly looking at each other’s schedules and wondering where teams can pick up wins. Neptune going to Ballincollig was unlikely to be on anyone’s list, but Neptune were full value as they capitalised on Ballincollig’s cup hangover and a missing Latavious Mitchell to win 83-69.

It’s a huge boost for Neptune who are now tied with Sligo and Killorglin on four wins. Mike Hayes had his best game since signing as he took advantage of the absence of Mitchell to relentlessly attack the basket on his way to 28 points and 10 rebounds, while big man Eoin Nelson also added 18 inside.
