Former Gaelic footballer Charlie Smyth kicked his first NFL field goal but the Mayobridge man's effort was in vain as the New Orleans Saints slipped to their 10th defeat with a 21-17 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Smyth, only elevated to Saints’ active roster on Saturday, landed a 56-yard kick but the Dolphins had De’Von Achane rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown and Riley Patterson kicking four field goals.
