Fighting fit. After confirming at the press conference that the bout was at a catchweight, Katie Taylor weighed in at 135.8 pounds at the Ventana Ballroom in the Kimpton Eventi Hotel.

Taylor’s undisputed light-welterweight title (WBC, WBA, IBF & WBO) and the Ring Magazine belt are on the line this Friday. The 140-pound titles will be contested at a 136-pound limit. The Irish woman confirmed this week that this was a stipulation in the contract.

That was part of the reason she did not agree to three-minute rounds. Serrano wanted to step beyond the 10 two-minute rounds used in women's boxing for the historic trilogy.

“Like I said at the press conference she's not really in a position to dictate the terms of the fight,” said Taylor.

"The fight is already at 136lbs; she wants the fight at 136lbs, not 140lbs. She wanted to be announced second in the ring. She wanted all these other 'champion privileges'.

"She is not going to get everything her own way basically and I think that's just business done properly."

Serrano was delayed stepping on the scales at the official commission weigh-in. Eventually, the Irishwoman’s team decided to leave with trainer Ross Enamait staying behind to observe Serrano step on the scales. A member of the opposition’s corner must be present on stage.

She eventually hit the 136-pound mark exactly.

This is the authorised registration with a ceremonial public weigh-in to take place on Thursday night in The Theater at Madison Square Garden. That event is open to the public and will be streamed live on Netflix. Most Valuable Promotions are confident that this bout will be the most-watched of 2025 as Serrano looks to avenge two of the three defeats she has suffered so far in a 51-fight long boxing career.

This week the unified featherweight world champion and MVP star vowed that her newly-developed approach would prove successful, while once more raising the accusations that Taylor deliberately headbutted her in their last fight.

“I'm going to use my head, but not the way it was used on me. We are just going to be smarter. We're going to be smarter, work smarter. I did work a lot smarter for this fight and I believe that we can come out victorious. We will come out victorious.”
