Walshe is off to Florida later this month to compete in the last TYR Pro meet of the year, which will make for an exciting marker ahead of Worlds in July.

Ellen Walshe has a chequered history with the 200m butterfly. The event which came to define her junior career required a four-year parting of ways, in which time Walshe became a two-time Olympian.

She eventually returned to it last month to shatter the longest-standing record in Irish swimming, taking a second and a half off Michelle Smith's mark from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
