Timmy Murphy has his sights set on placing his name on the row above his brother, Michael, on the Fr Michael O’Driscoll Cup as Munster Junior A champion. He set that quest in motion with a stellar performance against Craig Moynihan at Conna.

He opened with three massive bowls to just shy of light at Flynn’s corner. That yielded a 70m lead, but Moynihan made light at the green with his next one, which brought him level. They both opened Coleman’s corner next. Murphy produced a massive bowl past Cullinane’s, which guaranteed him reaching the bridge in another. Moynihan missed the bridge with his next one and Murphy went down to raise a bowl of odds.
