Mark English hunting fifth European medal after stellar semi-final performance

Two major things are needed to succeed at this level: class and the ability to race clever. English showed yet again that he has a vast reserve of both.

Four times in his career, Mark English has qualified for a major senior championship final. All four times, he has walked away with a medal.

That was, of course, before he came to the Dutch city of Apeldoorn for the European Indoor Championships this weekend, and after a masterful performance in his semi-final at the Omnisport Arena on Saturday night, his tally of European finals now sits at five. In tomorrow’s 800m final, he could well equalise that with his medal haul.
