It was a magnificent night for the Irish at the Millrose Games in New York on Saturday, with Andrew Coscoran, Mark English and Sarah Healy all smashing national records in their respective events.

Amid a deafening atmosphere at The Armory on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Coscoran rewrote two of the most storied Irish records when finishing seventh in the Wanamaker Mile, clocking 3:49.26. With that, the 28-year-old Balbriggan man became the fastest Irish miler in history, breaking Eamonn Coghlan’s national indoor record of 3:49.78 and Ray Flynn’s outright mile record of 3:49.77.
