Thomastown’s John Donnelly will captain the Kilkenny senior hurlers this coming season.
Donnelly, who was outstanding for his club as they claimed only their second ever senior county title last year, was expected to be selected as skipper as the county champions are entitled to do so.
Donnelly’s club-mate Peter McDonald has been named as vice-captain as Derek Lyng’s side prepare for their Division 1 opener against defending champions Clare in Cusack Park this Sunday.
Meanwhile, Mikey Bambrick (Old Leighlin) will led Carlow’s footballers in 2025. Conor Crowley of Palatine will be vice-captain. Shane Curran’s men take on Tipperary in their Division 4 first round game in Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday.
