Some 45 years after singer Neil Diamond released his hit single "Forever in Blue Jeans." the governing body of Irish motorsport are banning its appointed officials from wearing jeans whilst on official duty. It comes as part of the introduction of the Motorsport Ireland uniform to be worn by the various officials during all events.

MI clothing is assigned by role and each role has different colour polo shirts that are supplied by MI along with a jacket/body warmer. Appointed officials are being told that while trousers are not supplied, the requirement is that officials must wear dark trousers (black or blue if possible) but no jeans. If safety shoes are required for scrutineers they must be worn while on duty as an appointed official. According to the governing body, the adoption of the uniforms will ensure the correct visibility of its appointed MI team and ensure continuity across all disciplines.
