As a petition to challenge the recent announcement by Motorsport Ireland in relation to the use of control fuel in all MI rallies gathers pace, it appears that the decision was based on the report of a three-man working group within the Motor Sport Council (MSC). Indeed, the majority of the MSC members were only made aware of the situation at a meeting on the eve of last Wednesday's announcement.

The petition seeks to ask MI to reconsider its decision (that control fuel of two variants will be dispensed by the appointed supplier - Euro M-Sport with immediate effect for a three year term) has already received the support of almost two thousand people. There's no doubt that it's taken many people including rally organisers and competitors by surprise.
