John Shortt becomes Ireland's first ever male European Junior Champion after he won the 200m Backstroke at the European Junior Swimming Championship in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Galway man won in a time of 1:57.68. The 17-year-old brings home Ireland's first gold since 2017.
