John Shortt wins gold in the 200m Backstroke at the European Junior Swimming Championship

John Shortt becomes Ireland's first ever male European Junior Champion after he won the 200m Backstroke at the European Junior Swimming Championship in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Galway man won in a time of 1:57.68. The 17-year-old brings home Ireland's first gold since 2017.
